Art with Meaning and Purpose

At The 80th Street Residence, art therapy gives Residents opportunities to express themselves, make choices, connect with others, and explore their creativity—especially when verbal communication becomes challenging. Our person-centered approach emphasizes the experience of creating rather than the finished product, giving Residents the freedom to explore their abilities and express their individual voice and spirit.

Nicole Erney, MPS, ATR-BC, LCAT-LP has been providing art therapy services for the Residents at 80th Street since 2020. Nicole received her Master’s of Professional Studies in Art Therapy and Creative Development from Pratt Institute in 2018, where her passion for working with the Dementia population was fostered through internships.
